I am an El Salvadorean-American artist, living and working in Washington, D.C.
My works are informed by the elements, the landscape, world events, shamanism, anthropology, archeology, popular culture, divinity, and the sorrows and jubilation emanating from my heart; this synthesis of influences and my emotional reaction funnel themselves into my creations.
I use all kind of materials-pens, pencils, markers, all kind of paints, found objects, collage, earth, coffee, spices etc.- in pursuit of accomplishing an artwork.
I am aware of natural light and its influence on how i appreciate an image, as if an image existed only when under some sort of illumination.
With my works I am trying to express my feelings, bringing concern about my own self awareness, my relationship to others, my reverence and appreciation of nature, and my place in the universe.
I aspire for my works to be an integral part of the cultural dialog.
